Depending on the person, there are certain things one likes to do when on vacation. Some like to go to the beach. Others like to eat and drink to their heart's content. Then there are those who like to shop until they are red in the face.

In Palm Beach County, there are a multitude of shopping centers, districts and malls where the shopping-centric vacationers can go and be at peace with their bags and their credit cards.

For those vacationing in or around West Palm Beach, you have a bit of options when it comes to shopping. For great variety and excellent prices, its best to head over to the newly built Palm Beach Outlets. Here are great stores like Nordstrom Rack, Brooks Brothers, Off Saks, J. Crew, Gap and more. The sprawling center is outdoors but has canopies to help keep shoppers in the shade. They are a couple great restaurants on-property as well as a Whole Foods for those who like a bite during their buying binges.

Some people have a bit more expensive taste, and that is no problem. Across the bridge over on Palm Beach you can find Worth Avenue, one of the most storied and revered shopping districts in all the land. European boutiques, top designer stores and an amazing Tiffany's can be found here. The beach is also very near by, so just head towards the clock tower when you are ready for some fun in the sun.



Downtown at the Gardens

Downtown at the Gardens is a multi-faceted neighborhood center providing shopping, restaurants, entertainment and nightlife options for human beings of all ages. One of the cornerstones of the property is a massive Whole Foods with large interior dining room. Listen to live music in the background while checking in at top stores like Urban Outfitters and Izod. A movie theater is on campus, so if you get tired of walking around, pop in for a quick flick. If you are with the kids, and can tell they are getting grumpy, there is a Sloan's Ice Cream. A cone with a few scoops and a topping will keep those eyes from falling.

Harbourside Place is the newest and trendiest multi-use development in Jupiter. The facility houses restaurants, a hotel, an amphitheater which hosts live acts, and of course a multitude of shopping options. Current stores include Tommy Bahama, Chico's and White House|Black Market to name a few. More retailers are scheduled to come on board over the next year. Nearby is the intracoastal waterway,making it easy to spend a whole day in and around the grand Harbourside Place. Its goal is to be the center hub of shopping and nightlife in Jupiter, and it is currently well on its way to achieving that.

While it's easily a 30-minute drive from Palm Beach, this Wellington mall lures shoppers with its popular selection of stores and eateries. Williams-Sonoma, Express, Express Men, and Baby Gap are among featured retailers, in addition to anchor stores Macy's, Nordstrom, Dillard's, and JCPenney. When you're ready for a bite to eat, choose from Ruby Tuesday, California Pizza Kitchen, Charley's Steakery, Starbucks, Haagen-Dazs, the food court and more. The two level mall has over 180 stores, a child's play area, free wi-fi, valet parking and complimentary wheelchairs. If you are in Wellington for a polo match, take a break from the action and chill out in one of the best area malls.

City Place

City Place is great for shopping; the stores are laid out in a way that walking around them is a pleasant experience. Stop in Starbucks or Panera Bread for a coffee and treat before you get started, then make your way through any of the more than 40 stores ranging from high-end to budget friendly. There are staples like Gap, Banana Republic, Victoria's Secret, and Macy's as well as specialty stores like Sephora, Cache, and Anthropologie. If you're visiting from out of town and looking for a souvenir from your trip then you'll want to stop by Destination Palm Beach. Palm Beach Outlets

The Palm Beach Outlets are open for business, beckoning deal hunters off Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach. Over 100 stores have opened so far, with more to come as the construction on the property progresses. There are shopping opportunities for everyone, with big names like Nike, Saks, Express, Kenneth Cole, Calvin Klein and more pleasing customers with great sticker prices. The outlets are open-air, but are covered by massive tents to provide shelter when the afternoon rains come. At night, the tents light up, changing colors constantly to draw further foot traffic to the shopping mecca. The Outlets correctly anticipated that people would get hungry during their shopping binges. There is a Starbucks, Subway and BJ's Brewery on site as well as a Haagen Dazs which kids will surely enjoy.

The Mediterranean-inspired architecture, much of it designed by local architect Addison Mizner, is endlessly charming. The primary street is lined with delicious shops and light-wrapped palms, while vias (small side streets) branch off the main avenue and expand into lush, vine-laden courtyards that are oh-so-European. Retailers include a who's who of fashion and prestige, including Chanel, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co., Hermès, Cartier, Escada and Van Cleef & Arpels. Even if you don't buy, make sure to wander through the area. Its wonderful ambience is as intoxicating as its top-quality merchandise.
